Naturopathic Nutrition
Supporting the body's natural healing mechanisms, working on the root causes of dysfunction and disease, and providing individualised optimal nutrition to guide the body back into balance.
How does it work?
Nutritional Therapy focuses on food as therapy. It looks at possible nutrient deficiencies that may be causing or exacerbating imbalances and dysfunction. It aims to optimise nutrient intake to support balance in all body systems. Sometimes extra support by way of active nutraceuticals is needed to deeply nourish and repair.
Nutritional therapy involves detailed training in anatomy and physiology and the study of the interrelations between different systems in the body. The whole body and all aspects of a client’s life are considered. It may involve dietary and lifestyle modifications, testing (blood, hair, urine, stool), supplementation, nutraceutical support, and recommendations for other supporting modalities.
It can be used as an alternative or work alongside conventional approaches, or it may help to support and repair after conventional treatment.
My Approach
My approach is down-to-earth, open, and supportive. I want to help you understand your own body and what is happening inside and why. I aim to help you simplify your life and reduce the sense of overwhelm.
We all have individual requirements that can change depending on the external and internal forces imposed on us at any particular moment. Fluctuating hormones and the pressures of menstruation, motherhood and menopause mean women have to take additional care to provide what their bodies and minds require to stay healthy. And this can get complicated.
Alongside an overabundance of food and choices is an overabundance of information and confusion about what to eat. The number of people suffering from disordered eating, body image anxiety and mental health disorders is rising. With a growing emphasis on the outside of one's body we may not be focusing enough on the inside.
My role is to help you navigate this and learn how to listen to your body to work out what it needs. To reduce the stress caused by eating the wrong foods and not having enough of the right ones. I focus on you as an individual and not just as a set of physiological processes, so we can find the best way for you to help yourself.
I understand what it feels like to be overwhelmed, sick, tired and on a hormonal rollercoaster, but every day is an opportunity to make small changes that can have a positive impact on your health.
